There is no public price list for AI training data. Deals are private and every dataset is different. But buyers price the same seven things every time, and you can score your own records against them in an afternoon.
The seven things buyers price
| Factor | Worth more | Worth less |
|---|---|---|
| Novelty | Internal records nobody has seen | Anything that was ever on the public web |
| Outcome | Each record says what happened in the end | Activity with no result recorded |
| Linkage | Records about the same thing connect over time | Isolated rows |
| Difficulty | Hard, unusual, expert cases | Routine cases a model already handles |
| Readiness | Cleaned, structured, documented | A raw export with no description |
| Rights | Clear ownership, personal details removed | Unclear contracts, customer data mixed in |
| Supply | Keeps growing every month | A fixed archive |
Outcome matters most
A support ticket is worth little alone. The same ticket with the account history, the agent's internal notes, the fix and whether the customer came back is a complete example of a job being done. Buyers building RL environments need that last part: without a recorded outcome there is nothing to score a model against.
Ask of your records: can I tell, from the record alone, whether it worked?
Raw, labeled, verified
The same underlying data sells at three stages.
- Raw. As exported. Cheapest, because the buyer carries the cleanup and the risk.
- Labeled. Transcribed, structured, or tagged by people who know the field.
- Verified. Checked by Mora: you may license it, no personal data is left, and it is not already public.
Each stage costs work and raises the price by more than the work costs, which is why most sellers should not sell raw. On Mora every listing shows which stage it is at.
What lowers the price fast
- Substitutes. If three other companies can supply nearly the same thing, buyers will shop.
- Synthetic alternatives. Simple question-and-answer data can now be generated. Records of what really happened cannot.
- Rights problems found late. A deal that stalls in legal review often dies there.
- No sample. Buyers won't price what they can't inspect.
Exclusivity and term
An exclusive license pays more and can be sold once. A non-exclusive license pays less and can be sold again. Term matters too: a one-year training license is a different product from a perpetual one.
How to get a real number
A buyer's offer on a sample is the only number that counts. The fastest route is to describe what you have, let verified buyers look at fifty records under NDA, and see what comes back. Listing on Mora is free, and you can see what is on the market before you start. For the full process, read how to sell data to AI companies.
